On May 11, 2018, Rise and Resist, Black Lives Matter of Greater New York, community and friends came together to make "A Place for Justice".

Together we held a tree planting and plaque placement ceremony in front of the house of Angelique Negroni-Kearse to mark the anniversary of the death of her husband, Andrew Kearse. Andrew, a victim of police neglect who on May 11, 2017 was repeatedly refused medical attention, died while under the custody of the Schenectady Police Department.

Andrew begged for his life over 70 times, and his desperate pleas for help were callously dismissed by officer Mark Weekes and others.

"A Place for Justice" was both a vigil for Andrew Kearse, and a coming together of various communities to support his family who remains in great pain.
